1. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in addition to any manufacturer warranty, supplier warranty or voluntary warranty described in this Warranty Policy.
2. Manufacturer and supplier warranties
Some products are supplied with a manufacturer or supplier warranty. The warranty period, coverage and claim process may vary by product, brand and supplier. Where a manufacturer or supplier warranty applies, we will assist you with the claim process. You can bring a consumer guarantee claim directly to us as the seller; you do not have to pursue the manufacturer first.
A manufacturer or supplier warranty does not replace your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
3. Product warranty periods
We set voluntary warranty periods individually for each product. For website purchases, the applicable Big Power Parts voluntary warranty period is stated on the product page before purchase. For orders placed directly with us, we confirm the period in the quote or other written communication before purchase. Check the specific product’s warranty information rather than assuming that every product of the same type or condition has the same period. Any separate manufacturer or supplier warranty is explained in its own warranty document.
We will honour warranty periods represented at purchase. We cannot reduce those promises through a later email, invoice or policy update. If we identify an error before accepting your order, we will explain it and offer a full refund if you do not agree to the corrected terms. The Big Power Parts voluntary warranty period starts on the date the product is delivered to you, or the date you collect it for a pickup order. Delaying installation or first use does not postpone or restart that period. We will honour any more favourable commencement date expressly promised before purchase. This timing applies to our voluntary warranty and does not limit your Australian Consumer Law rights. Please contact us before purchase if the applicable period is not shown; we will confirm it in writing.
Used and reconditioned products may have different warranty periods from new products. Some used, damaged, clearance or "for parts" products may have limited warranty coverage or no voluntary warranty, except for rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
4. Product condition definitions
We sell new, used and reconditioned products. We determine the product condition based on information available to us, including supplier information, inspection, testing, repair history, product age, packaging, appearance and prior use.
Unless we state otherwise:
- new products are unused products supplied as new, although packaging may show ordinary storage or handling marks
- used products are previously owned or previously fitted products that may show wear, marks, ageing, cosmetic differences or previous use
- reconditioned products are used products that have been cleaned, inspected, repaired, rebuilt, tested or otherwise prepared for resale to the standard we consider appropriate for that product.
Condition descriptions are intended to help you understand what you are buying. A used or reconditioned product is not faulty merely because it has characteristics reasonably expected for that condition and disclosed before purchase.
5. Big Power Parts voluntary warranty against defects
Where Big Power Parts provides a voluntary warranty against defects, if a product has a defect in materials or workmanship during the applicable warranty period and the warranty applies, we may repair the product, replace the product, supply an equivalent product, or refund the purchase price.
This voluntary warranty is provided by:

6. How to make a warranty claim
To make a warranty claim, contact us before returning the product and provide:
- proof of purchase
- order number or invoice number
- product part number and serial number, where available
- machine, equipment or vehicle make, model and serial number, where relevant
- photographs or video showing the issue
- installation details, service records or diagnostic reports, where relevant
- a clear description of the fault and when it occurred.
We may ask you to stop using the product until it is assessed. Continued use after a fault appears may cause further damage and may affect available remedies where permitted by law.
7. Assessment
We may inspect, test or diagnose the product, or send it to a manufacturer, supplier or authorised repairer for assessment.
If the product is found to be faulty and the claim is accepted, we will provide the remedy required by law or available under the applicable warranty.
If assessment finds no fault covered by warranty or the Australian Consumer Law, we will explain the result. Any reasonable inspection, diagnosis or transport charge must be disclosed in advance and agreed with you before it is incurred, where lawful.
8. Warranty exclusions
To the extent permitted by law, voluntary warranties do not cover faults, damage or loss caused by:
- normal wear and tear or consumable parts reaching the end of their service life
- incorrect product selection, incorrect fitment or use with incompatible equipment
- incorrect installation, incorrect operation, removal, repair, adjustment or maintenance
- use by an unqualified or unsuitable installer where specialist installation is required
- misuse, abuse, negligence, overloading, overheating or abnormal operating conditions
- accident, impact, contamination, corrosion, water ingress, fire, flood or external causes
- modification, alteration, tampering, disassembly or unauthorised repair
- lack of correct maintenance or failure to follow manufacturer instructions, service schedules, torque settings, lubrication, fluid, filtration, cooling, calibration or operating requirements
- use in racing, competition, mining, hire, high-load, modified or severe-duty applications unless the product is expressly sold for that purpose
- electrical surge, incorrect voltage, incorrect wiring or battery/charging system faults
- cosmetic marks that do not affect function
- specific defects clearly disclosed before purchase in used, second-hand, damaged, clearance or for-parts products. These condition labels do not cancel a voluntary warranty expressly offered for the product.
These exclusions apply only to voluntary warranty rights and do not limit any rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
A claim may be declined to the extent the problem was caused by incorrect installation, incorrect operation or lack of correct maintenance. An unrelated installation or maintenance issue does not remove your consumer guarantee rights. We may request installation records, maintenance records, service history, diagnostic reports, photos, fluid samples or other reasonable evidence before accepting a warranty claim.
9. Labour, installation and downtime
Our voluntary warranty covers the product itself through repair, replacement or a refund of the product purchase price, as applicable under this policy. It does not reimburse labour charges you incur, including a mechanic’s or installer’s charges for diagnosing, removing, fitting or reinstalling the product. It also excludes towing, hire equipment, lost production, loss of profit, loss of opportunity and downtime. Return freight and assessment arranged by us are addressed separately in section 10.
This exclusion applies to our voluntary warranty only. It does not limit any right to recover labour, removal, installation or other costs where required by the Australian Consumer Law, including reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a failure to meet consumer guarantees. Any product repair we provide as a warranty remedy is carried out at our expense.
10. Freight and expenses
Contact us before sending any product for warranty assessment so we can arrange a suitable carrier or provide return instructions and confirm freight costs. Arranging transport with us helps avoid unnecessary charges. Not obtaining prior approval does not remove any statutory right to reimbursement of reasonable return costs.
For a valid Big Power Parts voluntary warranty claim, we pay reasonable return freight and assessment costs. For consumer guarantee claims, we reimburse reasonable return costs once a covered fault is confirmed and arrange collection of goods that cannot be easily returned where required by law. To request reimbursement, email your order details and receipts to support@bigpowerparts.com.au. Prior approval helps us arrange transport but does not remove any statutory right to reimbursement. For separate manufacturer warranties, the manufacturer’s document explains any additional expense arrangements.
For an accepted warranty or Australian Consumer Law claim, we also pay the freight to send the repaired or replacement product back to the customer. Contact us to arrange delivery.
For claims that are not accepted, we only charge reasonable assessment or return costs that were disclosed and agreed in advance, where lawful.
11. Replacement parts and repaired products
Repairs may use new or refurbished parts where lawful. Before accepting goods for repair, we will give any required notice about refurbished parts or possible loss of user data. A replacement must meet applicable consumer guarantees. We will obtain your agreement to a different or refurbished replacement where required and honour your right to choose a refund for a major failure.
Repair or replacement does not restart the original voluntary warranty period unless required by law or confirmed by us in writing.
12. Product recalls and safety notices
If we become aware of a product recall or safety notice affecting a product you purchased, we may use your contact details to notify you. You must follow any recall, safety or stop-use instruction promptly.
13. Relationship with Returns & Refunds Policy
If your claim relates to a recent delivery issue, incorrect product, or change of mind return, our Returns & Refunds Policy may also apply. We will assess claims under this Warranty Policy, our Returns & Refunds Policy, and the Australian Consumer Law.
